Investing in emerging and diverse managers and under-resourced markets

We are working to make access to private capital more equitable

We have a long history of providing capital support to emerging and diverse managers and under-resourced markets—areas that consistently perform well yet fail to attract a proportionate share of investments. We formalized these efforts in 2016 with the acquisition of the BAML Capital Access Funds team from Bank of America and continue to work to identify promising fund managers and connect them with capital.

Our leadership must be multi-directional to move the needle on diversity, equity, and inclusion and keep pushing for systemic improvement over time. As a leading global LP and an experienced, well-known leader and participant in the emerging and diverse manager markets, we utilize our platform to maintain the widest possible funnel and strong deal pipeline with GPs seeking capital for their first, second, and third-time funds.

Diverse-led manager profiles:

K1 and Forerunner*

We are proud to support K1 and Forerunner, two diverse-led managers that have successfully navigated the fundraising gauntlet to become established managers. We asked the firms’ respective founders, Neil Malik from K1 and Kirsten Green from Forerunner, to share their views on the current market landscape, particularly as diverse managers face an ebbing tide and much more competition for private capital allocations.
