Establishing an inclusive culture where all employees can thrive

We are working together to ensure all employees are seen, heard, and valued
So much can be achieved when good people abide by the simple philosophy of caring for each other and helping one another grow and learn. We are reminded daily of how lucky we are to be part of the HarbourVest team. This word cloud was created from anonymous employee responses when asked how they would describe our culture using one word.

Aiko Adachi
"HarbourVest values long relationships and that’s an important part of the culture here. We hire based on the personality of the individual and if that personality will add to the organization and the team. Talent is very important, but we are a people firm.

Julie Catton
"Being a woman in this industry can be hard, but I know that at HarbourVest I have leadership in my corner. This is my home, and these people are my family.

Gonçalo Faria Ferreira
"Our firm's culture encourages you to grow by stepping outside your daily job and molding your own experience. I found it was left up to me to provide the boundaries of my job. I have always felt encouraged and motivated to go beyond my job description.

McComma (Mac) Grayson
“I’ve stayed at HarbourVest because of the people I get to work with every day. Opportunities to do meaningful work and be rewarded for that work are of course important but if you don't like the people you work with on a day-to-day basis, your performance is going to suffer. We hire great people. We want to be around our team members. It’s just part of the culture.

Nhora Otalora
"I value the people and openness of the culture. At HarbourVest, we are truly interested in the wellbeing of our people and our network. We know that the business will come and go but we really care for one another.

Amanda Outerbridge
“When I started in this industry there was never a line for the ladies room. But at HarbourVest, there were always other women around the table—women who had come before me. I will never forget what one of them told me over 20 years ago: ‘When you get to the top, stop and enjoy the view, but make sure you turn around and help the next generation reach the top too.’ That’s the culture here and I am trying to pay it forward in the same way that people did for me.
Diversity & Inclusion Council

Our D&I Council was founded in 2019 with three key principles: opportunity for all, mutual respect, and global strength. Since its formation, membership has grown to include 19 senior leaders and both members of our Executive Management Committee. The Council meets monthly to set objectives, track progress, and strengthen policies and programs.

Rich Campbell Head of Enterprise Continuous Improvement
The Diversity & Inclusion Council had support from executive management from day one—before day one, actually. When this was brought to them as just an idea, they were immediately on board and wanted to be a part of it. That commitment to D&I from the top has been a game-changer for us because it trickles down to all levels of the organization."
