Leadership and oversight

We have built a robust oversight structure to support our ongoing ESG implementation efforts. Our Executive Management Committee (EMC) is ultimately responsible for our ESG Policy and objectives, with critical inputs from both our ESG Council and ESG team, the latter of which reports into our Head of Investments and works closely with our investment teams to integrate ESG factors into our investment processes.

ESG Council

HarbourVest’s ESG Council is comprised of senior leaders from across the firm, including co-CEOs John Toomey and Peter Wilson. The Council generally meets monthly to discuss the ongoing integration of ESG principles into all aspects of the firm’s business, including investments, operations, and community engagement. The Council advises the EMC on the strategic implementation of our ESG Policy, and the EMC ultimately approves any policy modifications and significant or new ESG-focused initiatives.

Emily Archer Investor Relations

Emily regularly engages with clients, prospects, and consultants to promote ESG best practices, share timely insights and firm initiatives, and represent investor views across the firm.

As ESG Council chair, Natasha focuses on setting ESG strategy and driving a coordinated approach to ensure consistent implementation and the adoption of best practices across the company. 

Julie Eiermann

Analytics & Measurement

Julie leads our analytics and measurement team, which provides the tools and data that help our investment teams incorporate ESG considerations into their due diligence work.

McComma (Mac) Grayson Investments

Mac serves as the lead investment representative on the Council, overseeing the coordination of ESG-focused activities and initiatives across our global primary, secondary, and direct co-investment teams.

James Kase Investor Relations

As the firm’s global head of investor relations, Jamie solicits and delivers key market feedback from clients on ESG initiatives and deliverables to ensure that our activities are aligned with prevailing concerns and considerations.

Bryce Klempner Strategy & Innovation

Bryce helps define HarbourVest’s overall enterprise strategy, including refining and elevating the role of ESG therein. He also actively represents the firm in leading industry groups and engages frequently on the topic with clients and partners to help inform our approach.

Katherine McCord Client Service

Katherine leads our Global Volunteering Group, which coordinates employee volunteering and community engagement efforts for all HarbourVest offices worldwide.

Diana McEachern Office Management

Diana and her team focus on ensuring ESG best practices and driving related efficiency improvements across our global operations.

Mark Reale Human Resources

As the global head of HR, Mark oversees corporate and employee engagement in the areas of resource conservation, corporate giving, community engagement, and diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Jonathan Sidi Legal & Regulatory

Jonathan advises the Council on its internal governance as well as on the legal and regulatory aspects of its activity, with a focus on ESG-related regulation.

Alicia Sweeney Marketing & Communications

Alicia leads our ESG and global communications strategy, working in conjunction with our investment, operations, and investor relations teams to highlight relevant ESG initiatives and updates with clients and other external audiences.

John Toomey Executive Management

A member of the EMC, John provides senior-level executive support to the Council and holds it accountable to firm-wide goals and objectives.

Peter Wilson Executive Management

A member of the EMC, Peter also provides leadership to the Council and holds it accountable to firm-wide goals and objectives. He sits on the Private Equity CEO Task Force of the Sustainable Markets Initiative, which provides an opportunity to align at the most senior levels in private equity on industry advancements.

ESG investment team leads

ESG integration processes are the responsibility of each investment team member and we place a high priority on regular staff training around our ESG objectives, process, and developments in our specific approach. Each of the firm’s investment strategy teams, as well as our Asia investment team, has assigned ESG investment leads who provide oversight of ESG integration and work closely with our ESG team to continuously strengthen practices.
